King Crimson - Red

The final King Crimson studio album released in the 1970s, Red (1974) serves as a conclusion of one era in the group's musical development and exploration through its fusion of the heavy metal sound from the previous two albums, whilst blending the jazz rock moods of the Lizard era with the Mellotron dominated sound of early Crimson era.Due to the lack of a touring band the record faltered on the British charts. In America it reached #66 on the Billboard Top 200.
However, it stood the test of time and remained a popular album with fans and critics. The album was listed at #72 on Pitchfork Media's Top 100 Albums of the 1970s. In 2001 Q magazine named Red as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums of All Time.Kurt Cobain has cited this album as a major influence.
